Deborah Jean Viar Hubbard

January 17, 1966 - July 7, 2023

Deborah Jean Viar Hubbard, 57, of Madison Heights, Virginia died on July 7, 2023, after a long illness.

Debbie served her country in many aspects; she was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where she has many decorations and was currently with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. She believed in hard work and spent as much time as possible riding her Harley Davidson Springer that she had saved to purchase. Being theatrical, and witty she never met a stranger.

She was devoted to her family and friends, always putting others first. Her youthful smile and laughter will be deeply missed by, her brother, William (Randy) Viar, sister, Shawn Viar Miller, nephews, Jason Peters, Christopher Miller, and Blake Miller (Danielle), niece, Keely Coleman, her great-nephew Maverick, uncle, Bill Lacks, aunts, Francis Leonard, and Estelle Brock, along with a host of cousins and devoted friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Leonard Abbott, aunts, Ethel “Tootie Williams and her husband Ed, Christine Lacks and uncle E. F. “Sonny” Leonard and cousin, Ricky Williams. She also was preceded in death by her favorite horse “Queenie” and her beloved shih tzu “Bella”.

In celebration of Debbie, please share your fondest stories and pictures with her family. She is now pain free and at peace singing to her favorite tunes.

Those wishing to make memorials in Debbie’s honor please consider the Amherst County Humane Society or the Central Virginia Horse Rescue.

Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family.

I worked with Debbie at the Post Office for many years. I rode motorcycles with my husband before he died. She always told me we would form a women's biker gang called the black widows. I loved her sense of humor, such a pleasure to be around. I don't think she ever realized how much she was loved and admired. I haven't seen her for years but am so very sorry that she is gone.
