Dennis Luther Kanode

Dennis Luther Kanode, 77, of Bedford passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Runk & Pratt of Forest. He was born on March 15, 1945, in Roanoke, VA. The son of the late Robert Luther Kanode and Doris Rena Prillaman Kanode. In addition to his parents Dennis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Jo Swanson Kanode. Dennis served his country in the United States Air force during Vietnam. He was retired after 35 years with Sherwin Williams. After retirement Dennis enjoyed working for Longwood florist delivering flowers and brightening people’s days with deliveries. He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends while eating and going on family vacations. Dennis also loved the mountain especially the Peaks of Otter. He was loved very much by his family and friends.

Dennis is survived by his three children, William “Billy” G. Kanode and his wife, Lucy, Tammy Kanode Hardy and her husband, Adam, and Lorie Kanode Neylon and her husband, Michael: five grandchildren, Ashton Kanode, Paige Neylon, Rena Hardy, James Hardy and Mattie Neylon and one sister, Nancy S. Kanode.

A funeral service and celebration of Dennis’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford with Rev. Miriam Dakin officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery in Salem, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home Bedford.
