Donna Rae Jackson

September 7, 1955 - October 10, 2022

Donna Rae Jackson, 67, of Lynchburg, died Monday, October 10, 2022.

Our Mother, Mrs. Donna Rae Jackson was born on September 7, 1955, in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Mrs. Yvonne Andrews Nowlin and Stonewall Nowlin. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt.

Known to many as “Cat”, she enjoyed visiting family, laughing and fellowshipping. Donna retired from the Lynchburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority after more than 20 years of service. She loved giving advice, cooking, cleaning, planting flowers and helping others. She was a member of Smyrna SDA Church. She instilled her faith and love for Jesus in her children and grandchildren.

She fell asleep in Jesus peacefully on October 10, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center surrounded by all of her children.

She was preceded in death by John Jackson, father of her three children, her devoted son and caregiver Jason Jackson, Rashah Jackson, Takia Hines (Gregory) and her brother Ronnie Nowlin (Sylvanie). Her nieces, Letrisha Nowlin and Destinie Nowlin; nephew Daniel Nowlin (Jessica). Her grandchildren, Sierra Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Jalen Jackson, Ashton Jackson and Aiyanna Jackson. Her great grandchildren Jolie Jackson and My’Leigh Jackson, in addition to a host of other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

Our mother will be greatly missed. For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. (Lamentations 3:31-32).

A funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory located at 220 Breezewood Drive Lynchburg, Virginia 24502.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.

Mrs Donna I didn't know she had passed away. I knew her when I was a little girl. My mommy and the rest of my family had grew up with Mrs Donna. Last time I had seen her was years ago when I was her daddy's caregiver.
