Doreathea “Dobie” Crews Johnson, 68, of Lynchburg went to be with the Lord Monday, June 26, 2023 when she was received in the arms of our Heavenly Father.  She was the wife of the late Stephen Johnson.  She was born on September 26, 1954 in Lynchburg and was preceded in death by her parents, the late Willie M. Crews, Sr. and the late Thelma Calloway Crews.  She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Louise Calloway and paternal grandparents, Clarence Crews, Sr. and Ethel Haythe Crews.

Dobie was educated in the Lynchburg City Public Schools and graduated from E.C. Dobie worked as a professional librarian with the Lynchburg City Public Library for over 40 years and retired in 2016.  She worked as a Residential Administrator for Sisters Heavenly Homes Residential Services from 2016 until her passing.  She was a faithful member of Providence Transformation Church International in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Makis, Willie, Norma, Paulette, Bernard, Rodney and Family, God bless you on the tremendous loss of Dobie, my long term friend. We grew up in Dearington, attended Dearington Elementary, Dunbar Jr. High and EC Glass High. Dobie was my 'Running Buddy', well as much as Mrs. Crews and my parents Sidney & Lois Dillard would allow us to run...to the games, YMCA/YWCA dances and riding through the block! Dobie was a real sweetheart and often the voice of reason among our peers. Like Louis Smith said earlier, I always ran by the Library when in town. She will be sorely missed. I trust the family will take a measure of comfort in knowing she is where we strive to be, enjoying the sights and sounds of Heaven while resting in the bosom of our Savior. Well done my good and faithful friend!

My sincere sympathy to Doreatha's family. We went to Dunbar Jr. High and E.C.Glass High Schools together. She was a sight to behold and so kind and sweet. Every time I visited my parents I made it a habit to stop by the library to see her and catch up on the latest news. She was an Ambassador for the City of Lynchburg. Truly a wonderful person! May God continue to bless you during this time of loss.
