Edward H. Cann, Jr., 91, of Goode, VA passed away on September 17, 2023. He was born in Fredericksburg, VA on March 29, 1932.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Catherine Cann; sister, Catherine; brother, Phillip; grandson, Shane Ragland; and India L. Cann the mother of his two daughters and his second wife Catherine Vaden Cann.

He is survived by India C. Trice (Joe), Elizabeth C. Ragland (Garry); stepdaughters, Andi Clay (William), Laura Johnson (Brandon); and six step grandchildren.

Ed graduated from Presbyterian College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and then entered Active Duty with the U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel and was Honorably Discharged with National Defense Service Medal. He was employed by Babcock and Wilcox for 30 years. He was in the Nuclear Fuel division and retired in 1987. Ed’s passion was fox hunting and was ex-MFH of Bedford County Hunt.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 21st at Virginia Memorial in Forest, Va. at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

The family would like to thank E.D. Coleen for his special friendship as well as The Summitt, Heritage Green caretakers and General Shepard Hospice Care that helped the family move him through his transition.

Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family.

I knew and worked with Ed Cann for many years at B&W (later Framatome). I feel privileged and honored to have worked with such a fine and principled gentleman.
