Gail Martin Harper

Gail Martin Harper passed away on September 16, 2023. She was born in Richmond, Va, on August 23, 1950, to the late William Esmond Martin and Shirley Fones Martin.

Gail married Marvin Harper on May 26, 1973, and they cherished 50 years together.  During this time, they enjoyed laughing over a great meal and watching their children and grandchildren succeed in sports and school activities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Lisa Marie Henshaw and Robert “Robbie” Henshaw.

Gail is survived by her husband, Marvin; three children, Karen Skelton (Samuel), Crystal Funderburk (Nathan), and Jason Harper (Nicole); 10 grandchildren, William “Will” Skelton, Katlyn Skelton, Rebekah Funderburk, Haden Funderburk, Hudson Funderburk, Kaylynn Allison, Jonathan Harper, Jaida Harper, and Riley Harper.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at The Church of The Good Shepard,6131 Dearborn Road, Evington, Va 24550, at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, which was a cause near and dear to Gail, being a cancer survivor herself, along with her husband.
