George E. Taylor transitioned on July 11, 2023, at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Monday December 29, 1958, the son of the late George Washington Taylor and Annie Louise Jefferson Taylor.

Deacon George E. Taylor was a devoted member of Altha Grove Baptist Church until his health failed and he was a longtime employee of Griffin Pipe.

He is survived by his son, Derrick E. Taylor; daughter, Meoicha Taylor and two grandchildren whom he adored Mia and My’iana Taylor; two brothers, Tony Taylor (Cindi) and Timothy H. Taylor; sisters, Dianne T. Paige (Bernard) and Mary Cash (Clyde Andrews); sister and devoted caregiver Kim T. Austin (Jerry), and the late Janet L. Taylor and a host of loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on July 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, Va., visitation will be held Friday July 14, 2023 at Tharp Funeral Home from 6:00pm –  8:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at the Altha Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
