I met Miss Hattie about 30 years ago when I was employed at Westminster- Canterbury as a maintenance worker. Miss Hattie was the caregiver of Mrs. Gertrude Burton. Hattie and I became instant friends. Even after I left Westminster Canterbury we continued to stay in touch. I cherished her friendship and appreciated her Godly wisdom and grace. My love and prayers are with the family. Steve Everett

What an awesome Home going Service for an amazing woman. Although I never met Sister Hattie Hicks, having Tyrone as first a classmate and now as a friend, I can see the love she poured into her family and she has obviously touched so many lives in a positive way. To the entire Hicks family, please know that my sincere condolences are with you at this time and your loved one has moved from labor to reward. Hallelujah!

We extend our sincerest condolences to the family of our beautiful, beloved, one-of-a-kind, Mrs. Hattie Hicks. To know her was to love her! To Tyrone, Corrine, Bertha, Ann, Teresa, her grandchildren, her siblings, her great grands, nieces, nephews and her many other family members and friends we are praying for you on the tremendous loss of this sweet, sweet Lady. Ms. Hattie will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She would do anything for you as evidenced by the way she supported our family efforts whenever we planned anything special for our mother, her lifelong friend Lois Dillard. She and our Mother were running buddies and she was always there for us in sickness and in health, through the good and the bad and we loved her and she loved us! Ms. Hattie was soooo thoughtful and giving and concerned and a true Proverbs 31 Christian Lady. She loved her family and she loved people and she is one we would do well to model in her Christian walk! Rest well Ms. Hattie and God's eternal blessings to you and your precious family! Lovingly honored by Paula, Joe, Norvel, Michael, Ann, Kimberly--the Sidney and Lois Dillard Family

Ty purchased flowers for Ms Hattie from us for years. It was always a pleasure and an honor to deliver them to her. She always answered the door with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. Debi and Hugh and all the staff at the Angelic Haven flower shop

Dear Family of Hattie Hicks: My sister Anne Bond-Gentry just called to tell me the sad news that Hattie Hicks died on Jan. 23. I am so sorry to hear this. I have fond memories of Hattie. When I was a teenager, she came to our home to do laundry while your grandmother Irene Hicks took care of the rest of the Bond Family needs. They were two wonderful women whom I really admired. They were a good team. Hattie taught me how to iron my blouses and men's shirts. She was very organized and consistent. First she took the collar and sprayed it with starch, then ironed it carefully; then the back panel, sleeves- cuffs first, then right front, back, and left front! To this day as I iron my husband, John's , shirts, I think of Hattie and follow her directions. Hattie meant a lot to all of the Bonds. We were 16 years difference in age from Everett , to me, then Helen, and when I was 14, Anne was born. It was a busy household and we really depended on Hattie and Irene and enjoyed their being in our home. John and I were married in '63 and lived all around the country, as he was in graduate schools. Thru the years we appreciated so much Hattie being there to help our parents as they moved to Westminster Canterbury. We lived in Louisiana for many years, so were not close by when they needed assistance. I am so sorry that I will not be able to come to Hattie's memorial service on Saturday. Know that John and I will be with you in spirit as you celebrate Hattie's beautiful life! Anne is planning to be there to represent the Bond Family. Everett is in Germany; we are in Raleigh, Helen and her family live in Richmond. Know that all of us send our love and condolences. With sadness and love, Nancy Bond Brothers 8581 Cypress Lakes Dr., #D504 Raleigh, NC 27615 919-784-9085
