Helen Marie Coleman Reynolds

Helen Marie Coleman Reynolds, 93, of Lynchburg, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 8, 2023.

She was born on May 30, 1930, in Bedford County, VA to Dessie Martin and Robert Lee Coleman.  She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Leftwich Reynolds; four brothers, Strother Coleman, Carl Coleman, Edward Coleman, and David Coleman; and a sister, Mary Lily Dawson.

She is survived by two brothers, Melvin Coleman (Norma) and Gene Coleman (Faye) and two sisters, Barbara Burks (Allen) and Brenda Wiles; her children, Ray Reynolds (Martha) and Ava Wambach (John); as well as three granddaughters, Michelle Pessarra (Aaron), Amanda Ney (Eric), and Doretta Walters (Ben); and eight great-grandchildren, Carl, Sydney and Travis Pessarra, Titus, Tenaya and Topanga Ney, and Eden and Cullen Walters.

Helen was a voracious reader, and her last spoken word was “book”.  She loved her family, and always looked forward to family reunions.  She cherished visits and phone calls.  She attended Compassion Church in her final years.

The family would like to thank care givers and medical professions at Guggenheimer Rehabilitation, Centra Hospice, and Lynchburg General Hospital for their care to Helen.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Lynchburg with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family.

I was going through Obits and ran across Ms. Reynolds , I just want to say she is the cutest little lady iv'e ever seen. You can see God and love in her eyes. You could tell she had the sweetest soul. My condolences to the family. RIP Ms. Reynolds

Miss Helen was a blessing and joy! She made our lives richer. She will be truly missed. We pray the Lord will comfort and encourage her wonderful family.

She was quite a character and so very loved. We were so blessed to have had her for so many wonderful years. Thoughts and prayers for you all, as you will have a great void without her wonderful smile. I am so blessed to have called her “Aunt” and she will always be in my heart.
