Jack Walton Slusher
Jack Walton Slusher, 96, of Lynchburg passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021. He was the husband of Merle Slusher for 74 years.
Jack was born July 14, 1925, in Fort Gay, West Virginia a son of the late Clyde L. Slusher Sr. and the late Thelma Slusher.
He served our country in the Army during World War II in the 206th Combat Engineer Battalion in France, Germany, and Austria. He retired from the Greyhound Corp after 41 years. He was a dedicated member of Melrose Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert A. Slusher (Leigh) of Wake Forest, NC., Janeth S. Bibb (Tom) of Charlottesville, VA.; his grandchildren, Caryn S. Willey (Tom), Michael B. Slusher (Katie) and Tommy Bibb III, (Claire); great-grandchildren, Kylie, Bryson, Brittany, Keira, and Aliya.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother, Clyde L. Slusher, Jr. and his sister, Margaret Slusher Turner.
A funeral service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at Melrose Baptist Church, 3520 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, VA. from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
