James Alfred Harris
James Alfred Harris, 93, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on March 27, 2023. He was the husband of Jean Scott Harris for almost 70 years.
Jim was born in Charlotte County October 6, 1929, a son of the late Allen Thomas Harris and Edna Hancock Harris. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and had worked the majority of his career at Imperial Reading in Lynchburg, Va. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church for 64 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Mike Harris (Sheila), David Allen Harris (Bonnie), and Bobby Harris (Leslie); as well as daughter, Cheryl H. Hawkins (John). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Noblin and Ruby Andrews and two brothers, Willard Harris and Charles Clark; and a granddaughter, Jessica Hawkins.

A graveside service will be conducted at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Naruna, Va. by Pastor Rick Ewing on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 1 p.m.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
