James Henry Garrison III

August 21, 1962 - August 29, 2023

James “Jimmy” Henry Garrison III was born to the late James Henry Garrison Jr., and Carol Jean Brown- Garrison on August 21, 1962. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

James “Jimmy” Henry Garrison III grew up in Long Island, New York alongside his 7 siblings and moved to Lynchburg, Virginia in 1969. After moving to Lyncburg, he went to Heritage High School where he joined the wrestling team.

He was a Jack of all trades and had the ability to turn nothing into something, creating a level of perfection that could not be competed with. From mastering carpentry and wood work, to gutter work, remodeling, and gardening, we can say that there was not much at all that he could not do.

Jimmy was someone that could best be described as reliable, who had a level of skill that set him a part from all others. Jimmy was dependable, strong, funny, and selfless. He loved hard and was the “Go-To” for many family and friends.

Everyone could rest assured that Jimmy would find a way to solve every problem, regardless if the problem was his or not. There was no circumstance that Jimmy could not overcome, and he did so, so effortlessly that he made everything look easy.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories his wife Amy Elizabeth Garrison, 3 daughters, Latoya Jean Hayden, Simone Chantelle Garrison, and Lauryn Rae- Janice Banks, 2 sons, Antroine Lamont Banks, and Tyrek Jamal Banks. In addition to his children, Jimmy also has 2 granddaughters, Raven Sha’nea Younger and Sage Cherrelle Garrison, his siblings Carolyn Marie Jones, Janet Lee Garrison Tabb, Angela Faye Garrison Lee, Melvin (Mara) Edward Garrison, Mark (Molly) Wayne Garrison Sr., Beverly (Jerry) Gale Garrison – Garland, Roscoe “Rocky” Daniel Garrison, Jamie Marie Garrison, and a host of nieces and nephews., as well as 3 devoted furbabies, Batman, LulaBelle, and his grand-dog Prince. He was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Garrison Jr., his mother Carol Jean Brown – Garrison, and his sister Janice Denise Garrison.
