James “Jimmy” Robert Peterson
James “Jimmy” Robert Peterson, 57, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023. He was the son of the late George Edward and Sandrel Chisom Carter.
James was born on May 7, 1966, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was a member of Belmont Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. Jimmy loved music and playing the Spoons. He enjoyed fishing, camping, swimming, restoring antiques and collecting old coins, geodes, and gems. He was involved in his church and prayers outreach ministry. Jimmy had many friends and did not know a stranger. He loved his family and was a devoted husband, kind and caring. His zest for life and laughter was contagious. He will be remembered and missed by many.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Deborah Hollie Peterson; children, James Robert Rouse, Jacob Allen Weaver, and Suzanne Roberts; several grandchildren, sisters, Robin Renee Creel and Stephanie Lynn Couch; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friends Bryan and Connie Morrison. .
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Edward Rouse, two grandchildren, and sisters Rita Kay Sardarov and DeAnna Summit.
A Celebration of Life and memorial service for Jimmy will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at Belmont Presbyterian Church with Pastor Todd Atkins and brother-in-law Willie Mangum officiating. A meal will be held following the service.

Jimmy will be greatly missed! He was a kind and loving husband to my sister! I thank the Lord that Jimmy knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was able to serve Him in many ways and at Belmont Presbyterian Church and in his community. We know you are now free of any pain and suffering and are with Jesus. Our hope is in Christ who took our sins and was nailed to a cross and rose again three days later. Jesus now lives and reigns and we can look forward to seeing Jimmy again and living eternally by putting our trust in Christ.
