Jean Neese Litchford

Jean Neese Litchford, 91, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at The Summit Health and Rehab Center.

Born January 5, 1932, in Nelson County, Jean was the daughter of John Walter Neese and Ruth Pugh Neese. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John William (Billy) Neese and Jerry Glen Neese, her son Larry Litchford, her grandson Stephen Boswell, and her partner for over 30 years, Roy Hall.

Jean is survived by her daughter Ruth Boswell, son John Litchford (Barbara) son-in-law Harvey Boswell, grandsons Stephen Boswell, Jr., Quinton Litchford (Stacy), Sean Litchford (Laurel), and Ian Litchford, her sisters Peggy Hartman and Rebecca Gibson (Bradley), and many nieces and nephews.

Jean worked at Imperial Reading Corporation and C. B. Fleet and was a great asset to both companies.

Jean (aka Gaga) was loved by everyone who knew her. She was known for her kindness, generosity, fun-loving nature, and keen sense of humor. She loved animals, especially cats and dogs, and even had special names for her favorite birds, squirrels, and groundhogs.

Jean was a special lady and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Reverend Matt Rhodes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.

So sorry to hear of Jean's passing. I really enjoyed working with her at Imperial Reading and visiting her at her Oak lane residence.
