Thankful for the Burgess family and welcoming our son Ryan into your home during his middle school years. Having a safe place for our children to be outside our home is so very important. Thank you for providing that safe, welcoming place. Tommy was a good friend and influence on our son. Blessings and prayers for your family in the loss of a mom, grandma and wife.

So sorry for your family’s loss. Prayers for comfort and peace for all of you. Mrs. Burgess was my 4th grade teacher, and although, she did not complete the school year (gave birth to Anne), she left her impact. She was my favorite teacher.

Mrs. Burgess was a light in my life when I needed a light. She believed in me and I will always treasure her. She was kind and compassionate and seemed to understand a 4th grader that didn't understand himself. She was a beautiful soul. May God offer her help carrying the many crowns she laid up in heaven, while helping children here on earth. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

Sending my sincere condolence to Joyce's family. She was such a sweet lady. Joyce and I met at vendor events where we would muster the rain and wind and heat to sell our wares. Joyce didn't mind the days where sales were not good as long as she put smiles on childrens faces while teaching them to play her educational games. We would meet for lunch and chat for hours. I think of her often and will surely miss her.

My sympathies to Joyce’s family, and especially to Bryan who was my 5th grade student at Heritage. Joyce came into my life again as a substitute teacher following her retirement. What a caring and giving lady she was! She leaves a wonderful legacy in both education and family.

Deepest sympathy to Joyce's family. I worked with her at Bass Elem. She always was a joy to be around and was always willing to help anyone. It was so nice to reconnect with her at Silver Sneakers several years later. Prayers for her family, God bless you all!

I am very sad to see this. I used to be a teacher assistant at Bedford Hills and I worked in her class with a couple of students. I remember one day we went to the zoo on a field trip. I chose to stay with her throughout the day and I have so many memories of our time together. She was a kind, compassionate lady that loved her students. She positively impacted many people - children and adults. I am praying for you all during this time.

So sorry for your loss. Joyce was so thoughtful, kind, and very personable. I enjoyed the few conversations we had for she would talk about how much she loved her children and grandchildren and how she wished she could spend more time with them. I was delighted to be able to share one of my favorite cakes (chocolate chip pound cake) with her and Joel to enjoy. Sending prayers, love, and hugs to the family.
