June Addison Spence, 90, of Big Island died Friday, August 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Landon Spence and her parents, Robert Franklin Addison and Daisy Inez Downey Addison Cheatham.

She was born on November 15,1930 in Big Island, Virginia. June loved spending time with her family, drinking coffee, puzzle books, and bus rides to activities and her favorite place to dine was at Monte Carlo Pizza. She was spunky, “Energizer Bunny”, and determined.  She was a member of Big Island Baptist Church.

Survivors are her children, Steve (Diana), Julia (Richard), Yvonne (Eugene), Cathy (Don); grandchildren, David (Jennifer), Melanie (Chris), Emily (Emerson), Sarah, Jess, Alex and Stephanie; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Gentle Shepard Hospice for the amazing care takers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Big Island Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryon LePere officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

My heart just broke. There is so much to be remembered. Every time I smell Odyssey, I think of you. And when folks talk about Karo syrup on pancakes, I say “ My Miss June did.” You’re at peace and misses greatly.
