Kenneth L. Smith

Kenneth L. Smith, born on October 25, 1945, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of service and devotion. 

He made rank of Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam war. After the Army, Kenneth transitioned to a new chapter of his life and attended Liberty Baptist College. After college he work several different jobs for Liberty, before winding up at Liberty Home Bible Institute. Where he would eventually retire.

Kenneth’s loving wife, Mary J. Smith, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Mark and Dale Smith, and his grandchildren, Ray, and Liam Smith. In addition, he is fondly remembered by his daughters-in-law Jamie Creasy and Leah Smith.

Kenneth’s profound impact on his family and his dedication to both his military career and religious pursuits will forever be cherished. 

A  family visitation for those wishing to extend their condolences will be held Monday evening, July 3, 2023, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Dr., Lynchburg, VA. The family is having a private graveside memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Bright Focus Foundation, a charitable organization supporting Alzheimer’s research and awareness.
