Mary Lois Carter Kessler

Mary Lois Kessler, 90,  of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on Monday, June 26th. She was the wife of Kenneth Kabler Kessler for 72 years. 

 

Lois was born on March 3rd, 1933 in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late James Harry Carter and Nannie McCullough Carter. She is also preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, and a grandchild- Sarah McKenzie Goodman. 

 

In addition to her husband, Lois is survived by her children: Kenneth Gregory Kessler of Calleo, Jeffrey Blake Kessler (Gail) of Forest, and Cynthia Kessler Bost (Bill) of Lynchburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kristopher David Watts of Rustburg, Kara Watts Trent (Bobby) of Lynchburg, Christian Kessler Trautner (Robert) of Greer, SC, Jeremiah David Kessler of Pawleys Island, SC, Lita Kessler Brennan (Ean) of King George, Daniel James Bost of Granby, CO,  and Kaitlin Dianne Bost (fiancé-Tucker) of Raleigh, NC, as well as fifteen great-grandchildren. 

 

Lois enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and reading. She loved to entertain, cook, and looked forward to Saturday night dances. But the greatest joy of her life was being a mom, grandma, and great- grandma. 

 

Lois spent her free time volunteering with Meals on Wheels and at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was a member of Fort Hill Women’s Club and The Woman’s Club of Lynchburg; she also attended Amazing Grace Ministries. 

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28th from 6 to 8pm. The funeral will be Thursday, June 29th at 1pm, followed by a burial at Spring Hill Cemetery. Tharp Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I am so sorry to hear Lois passing . I have enjoyed so much being a care giver to her . She was a friend and like family to me . I going miss her so much . I will miss our card games and all our laughs . I looked forward to everyday I got to spend with her . My prayers to the entire family .
