Patricia Ann Connolly

June 6, 1935 - August 3, 2023

Patricia A. Connolly passed peacefully on August 3, 2023, after a short illness. Her final days were spent with her family and best friend.

Born Patricia A. Myers in Baltimore, MD, “Pat” was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Paul E. Connolly, sisters MaryJane Elliott and Lois Hall, parents Jeanette Henrietta Cook and Joseph Albert Myers and a grandson Jeffery Wood.

Pat is survived by a brother Joseph Myers of Phoenix, AZ and a sister Janet Sebring, FL; daughters Susan (Kent Payne) of Chesapeake, VA, JoAnne (Rick Council) of Virgina Beach, VA; sons Stephen (dawn) of Vail, CO and Michael, Lynchburg; a granddaughter Emily Council, Virgina Beach and a grandson Tim Thow, Virginia Beach.

Born in Baltimore, Pat married Paul in 1956 and had four children before moving to Lynchburg in 1969. A woman of the 70’s, she embarked on a business administration career and become one of the burgeoning numbers of working women.

Pat started with Randolf Macon Women’s College and then moved to the City of Lynchburg’s Public Works Department, where she worked until 2002 and retired after thirty-seven years of service (1977 – 2002). After almost two decades of the good life, she remained in close contact with many former City employees. So much so that fellow worker and friend Pam Norris could be included above within the “survived by” section of this missive.

Pat served as the Bookkeeper and Treasure for Peakland Pool Swimming Club from the early ‘70’s until the early 2000’s.

Pat will be remembered for her continuous acts of small kindnesses. She was always giving and could be counted on for kind words of encouragement whenever needed.

Her compassion for others was only matched by her commitment to the Centra Cardio Rehab Center where she was a regular three times a week for over 20 years. She was an icon for the group.

Pat was a founding fan of the Viginia Ten Miler and supported her beloved Colts until they moved to Indianapolis, when she became an ardent Redskins fan, all the while remaining loyal to the Baldimore (sic) Orioles. She was a non-practicing Catholic and former member of the Holy Cross Congregation.

She loved her cats.

Pat is a Virginia Anatomical Donor and has loaned her body to science. Funeral Services are planned at the end of her pledge sometime in the future. In the meantime, a Celebration of Life will be held at Charley’s Restaurant on Sunday August 27th from 3:30 – 5:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Pat’s name to the Lynchburg Humane Society https://lynchburghumane.org/donations/annual-fund/ or the Lynchburg chapter of Meals on Wheels https://mealsonwheelslynchburg.org/donate/.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family. To send condolences, please visit www.tharpfuneralhome.com.

Celebrate Patricia Ann's life with a short message, photo or video!

Pat's was a life well lived, and lovingly remembered by many. It was my blessing to have met and worked with her so many years at the City. I keep and cherish the memories of nights out at Gatsby's, trips to the beach, home parties, lunches and many work-related events. Wishing the family peace as they face a future forever changed by this loss.
