Peggy Ann Carwile Stinnett

April 23, 1933 - August 16, 2023

Peggy Ann Carwile Stinnett, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. She was the loving and dedicated wife of the late Louis E. Stinnett, Jr. for 57 years.

Peggy was born April 23, 1933 in Lynchburg, to the late Claude Wesley and Myra Bailey Carwile.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Melvin W. Carwile and a sister, Joyce (Teenie) Hammersley as well as nephews, David Carwile, Valton Hammersley, Jr., Eddie Stinnett and Brad Stinnett.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Myra E. Stinnett Trent (Myra Beth), her son-in-law, Kevin R.

Trent of Brookneal; her two grandchildren Kevin Trent, Jr. of Brookneal and Bailey Trent of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Kathryn (Kitty) Wildemann of Lynchburg; nieces, Karen Ann Turner of Mobile AL and Kim Banton of PA; nephew David Stinnett (Dorma) of Lynchburg; and many other family members and friends.

Peggy and Louis were high school sweethearts, voted Cupid’s Couple and Homecoming King and Queen at E.C. Glass High School in 1951; the two were married later that same year. Peggy began working at Scott Horner Mason in 1951 and retired 46 years later from Legg Mason. The Mason and Craddock families were very dear to her heart as were her other coworkers.

Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known for her cooking, sweet hugs, and generosity. Peggy loved and trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and is now home in heaven.

The family would like to thank her many caregivers throughout each stage of this disease including Hospice of Central Virginia. The last 22 months, she was genuinely loved and tenderly cared for by the amazing caregivers at Commonwealth Senior Living in South Boston, VA. She battled Alzheimer’s/Dementia for 7 years and was a two-time breast cancer survivor. Peggy fought her battles bravely and quietly, and she fought them like a true champion. A true

Proverbs 31 woman.
