Petunia Osborne

December 15, 1941 - March 7, 2023

Petunia Dinah Osborne, affectionately known as “Tunie”, was born on December 15, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the fourth child of the late Paul Osborne and Thelma Jane Faulkner Tubbs.

As a young child, her family relocated to Hurt, Virginia. She attended and graduated from Old Northside High in Gretna, Virginia. Her family relocated back to Virginia and, in 2006, Petunia followed shortly after retiring.

Petunia had a heart of gold. She cared more about others than she did herself. She deeply cared about her family. She was proud to be an Osborne. Her caring nature was evident in the profession she chose. She worked for Personal Touch Home Care as a Home Health Aide for many years. Petunia was a God-fearing woman. She was introduced to Jesus Christ at an early age. Her faith in the Lord was incredibly strong. She was a faithful and loyal servant until the very end. She was a member of Family Life Church in Lynchburg, Virginia.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her only child, son, Shawn Osborne, daughter-in- law, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A funeral service will take place immediately after at 11:00 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg Chapel.

I was blessed to have experienced the love and kindness of Ms Petunia, although she was just Grandma to me. Though we weren’t biological related, I never felt like anything other than family. My childhood summers were some of the most memorable summers - I really enjoyed being around her. My brother wouldn’t agree but I loved her hot ice tea in the middle of summer! Lol It was no doubt that she cared. She raised a man just as caring and selfless as her and without him I’d would have never had these experiences. And I’m truly thankful to have experienced a soul as beautiful as hers. RIP Grandma Petunia 🙏🏾 My condolences to everyone who also had a chance to experience her beauty and especially those closest to her. With Love , ~Jazzy
