Regina Frances Comer

April 1, 1941 - December 29, 2022

Regina “Deannie” Frances Comer, 81, of Rustburg, passed away on December 29, 2022 at Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born on April 1, 1941, in Princeton, WV. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Geraldine Flanigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving late husband, Leonard Comer of 56 years.

She is survived by her three children, Chris Marsh (Mike), Missy Sherman (Keith) and Brian Comer (Michele). She has five grandchildren, Justin Marsh (Bethany), Kirby Marsh (Nate), Danielle Dorsett (Michael), Austin Sherman and Autumn Comer. She also has three great-grandchildren, Raylan and Bennett Marsh, and Sawyer Morley; with her first great-granddaughter, Paisley Dorsett, due in February and a great-grandson, Rhett Morley, due in April. She is also survived by two sisters, Theresa Long of Jacksonville, FL and Bobbie Urquhart of Peterstown, WV.

Deannie was a homemaker, a loving devoted mother, nanny and great-nanny. She was so proud of her family and loved spending time with them. She always said, “she was born to be a mother.” She was absolutely correct. Deannie, and her husband Leonard, provided unlimited love and support in the upbringing and childcare for all of their grandchildren. She will always have a special place in the grandchildren’s hearts.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Deannie’s neighbors, Diane and Harold Puckett, for everything they have done for our parents through the years, especially since our father passed. Diane was a god send these past three months of our mom’s life.

A celebration of Deannie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, VA. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Campbell County Humane Society, 322 Dennis Riddle Dr., Rustburg, VA 24588.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.

What a beautiful description of a beautiful lady. Deannie was a special person and immediately welcomed me into the family. I loved her outspoken and outgoing personality. I know you all will miss her deeply and hope you take comfort in the legacy she left behind, which is all of you. What a great job she did as a homemaker, mother, and grandmother!
