Richard L. Wiiliams
Richard L. Williams (Dick to everyone) was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on June 25, 1942. He passed at home on April 21, 2022, after a long fight against cancer. He enlisted in the Army in the early 60’s and spent three years in Germany trained as a medic and working on track vehicles. After his discharge, he spent two years at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. He was trained as a professional diver in the Gulf of Mexico to work on oil rigs. He moved to Euliss, Texas to go into the concrete pumping business, He transferred to Houston where he met his wife. He worked in the concrete business until the early 90’s. He went to work for Tomahawk Warehousing in 1991 and worked for them until shortly before his death. His parents William and Helen Williams preceded him in death in the early 1990s. He was married to his wife Mary Lou Williams since November 21, 1975, exactly 46 years and 5 months to the day which started as a blind date.
Dick is survived by his 3 children- Christine M. Huguley, David L. Williams, and Evan L. Williams. He has 12 grandchildren, Jaclyn Starr Bryant, Kelvyn Griffin, Karra L. Huguley, Kayla M. Huguley, Savannah N. Williams Huguley, Dakota K. Williams Huguley, Jordan K. Huguley, Ashlyne Workman, Alayna Williams, Aubreigh Williams, Dylan L. Williams, Nathaniel Workman and Son-in-Law Kristopher Huguley. Dick is also survived by his many friends.
Dick wished to be cremated as were his parents. He did not want any ceremonies or services. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society in Dick’s name.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
