Ronald Lee Overstreet passed away on September 8, 2023, in Richmond, VA. He was born on June 5, 1949, a son of the late William Graham Overstreet Jr. and Catherine Slaughter Overstreet.
Ronnie grew up and lived most of his life in the Lynchburg area. He graduated from Brookville High School in 1967 and worked in Retail Merchandising and Management for most of his career.

Ronnie was a successful buyer for Schewels Home Furniture for over 15 years. After retiring, he spent his time with his family as well as volunteering for the hospital where he brought many patients smiles and laughs with his charm and sense of humor. Ronnie loved his family more than anything and he was a beloved grandfather, affectionately called “Papa” by his seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He also had a very special relationship with his miniature schnauzer, Lucy, who he called his “angel.” Ronnie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and his sweet dog, Lucy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, William Graham Overstreet III.

Ronnie is survived by his sister, Sherry Cyrus; his three children, Timothy Lee Overstreet (Sonja), Crystal Overstreet Womack (Ronnie) and Katie Overstreet Ruscito (Paul); his seven grandchildren, Julie MacPherson, Chris Brekke, Katelyn Foster, Corey Foster, Trevor Womack, Presley Overstreet, Adalee Ruscito; and six great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the Bon Secours Community Hospice House in Richmond and their amazing doctors and nurses for the exceptional, compassionate care they provided to Ronnie and his family during his final days. They would also like to thank the Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House in Richmond for supporting the family with beautiful accommodations while they spent time with their dad at the end of his life.

I met Ron when my daughter and I moved to Lynchburg 7 years ago. He was our first friend and greeted us on moving day with his beloved Lucy. We became fast friends and he was such a faithful neighbor to us until we moved. We kept in touch on and off over the years and we were so sorry to hear of his passing. We know he is in a much more peaceful place-but the loss will be great. He adored his children and spoke about you all often to me. He was so grateful for everything you all did for him over the years. I hope that we were able to leave an impression on him, as he did us. Rest easy Ron! Love, Heather and Madison Brake
