Sherice Danielle Parker Thomas

July 30, 1971 - April 18, 2021

On Sunday, April 18, 2021, our beloved Sherice Danielle Parker Thomas, 49, departed this life at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA from COVID-19 complications.  She was born on July 30, 1971 in Lynchburg, VA the daughter of Myra Parker Cobbs and Ralph Parker. In addition to her grandparents she was preceded in death by her biological father, Ralph Parker.

She leaves to cherish her two daughters, Taylor and Torri Thomas; devoted parents Myra and John Cobbs; one brother Jared (Hillarie) Cobbs; one nephew Cameron; one aunt, Melva Taylor; four uncles, Glen Taylor, Jimmy Taylor, Christopher Taylor and Gill Taylor-Tyree; a devoted friend Dinetta Sandidge-Smith and a host of family and friends.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized on October 4, 1981 at Brookville Baptist Church where she was actively involved.  She graduated from Heritage High School (1989) and Old Dominion University (1995) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

In the Tidewater, VA area she worked passionately and cared for the well-being of her patients and others as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years.  She was a great nurse and loved being a nurse.  Sherice was known for her fashionable clothes and styles; she loved shopping, music and spending quality time with her daughters and the ones she loved.

A celebration of Sherice’s life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Greater Brookville Church.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the safety of family and friends, face masks and social distancing will be adhered to.  Services will be streamed live.  Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Forest, VA immediately following the service.

May 1, 2021 Dear Taylor and Torri Thomas and the Family of Sherice Parker Thomas, Words seem so inadequate at times like these, but we must try to express our heartfelt sympathy in the passing of your mom and our dear sister, Sherice Daniele Parker Thomas. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that the Gethsemane Church Family and Friends grieve with you during this difficult time, but we also celebrate her life with you as well. We serve a God who sits high and looks low and cares for us all in every situation. Allow God's powerful, comforting, and healing Word to offer solace and strength to you in your sorrow. I attended HHS with Sherice and graduated with her in the class of1989. She was beautiful inside and out and will be missed. I wish I could be there tomorrow for the service but unfortunately I will not be able to make it. Please accept my warmest condolences for your loss. I am praying that God will comfort your family.

I was saddened to hear of Sherice’s death and family you have my deepest sympathy. Fond memories of Sherice came to mind of when she was in my fifth grade class. She was such a good student and very well- behaved. If I had to predict when she was ten years old what she would be, I would have predicted that she would be in a profession where she took care of others and so she did. Sherice’s mom was a great supporter of her and a great parent to work with. Family, May God bless, keep, and guide you during this difficult time.
