Susan Marie Behnchen Maroulis

Susan Marie Behnchen Maroulis, 75, of Goodview, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 13, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Eggert Charles Behnchen and Clara Carter Behnchen.

Known to many as “SueSue,” she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was passionate in her relationship with God and shared her faith with many . 

Susan is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Costas Maroulis; her daughters, Daina Larson (Thomas) and Amy Carroll (Todd); her son, Robert Maroulis; as well as her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

A celebration of Susan’s life will be conducted at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia at 11:00AM on Saturday, June 19, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.

Celebrate Susan's life with a short message, photo or video!

My first ever friend. Susan Behncken and I grew up together from age 1 to 6 on Sunshine Avenue in Norfolk, VA. we have stayed in touch ever since. Her and her parents visited my family when I lived in North Laurel, MD. I visited Susan in Norfolk when the USGS had their computer meeting there. Four years ago Susan called me to tell me that we were going to be neighbors again. Her and husband Bobby had sold their beautiful house on the water in Suffolk VA and had bought an 80 acre farm in Goodview , VA. Goodview is very close to Smith Mountain lake near where our lake house was. They came to visit us here at Peak's View and I had lunch with Susan and Bobby at the Lake. I knew she had cancer. This year I did not receive a Christmas card from her and I have phoned her and left messages twice in the last two months. This week I have been thinking about her a lot and last evening decided to google obituaries. My love and sympathy to Bobby and their children.
