Texanna Jefferson Watson
Deaconess Texanna Jefferson Watson, was born on Sunday, November 4, 1934 to the union of the late Benjamin L. Jefferson, Sr. and Edith Davis Jefferson in Lynchburg, Virginia. Texanna married her husband Fulton R. Watson, Sr. on October 11, 1952. This union was blessed with three children. Texanna accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Holcomb Rock Baptist Church where she served as a faithful and dedicated member who loved the Lord. She served on the Senior Usher Board, 20th Century Club, Kitchen Committee, Church Anniversary Committee, and Deaconess Ministry.
She worked for Bedford County Public Schools as a bus driver, Carter’s Antique Shop and retiring from Leggett (Belk) as a sales associate. After retiring, she was a caregiver for her mother.
“Tex” as she was affectionately called, wore many, many hats. She loved to sew, gardening, crafts (decoupage) canvas painting, bird enthusiast, and baking her famous yeast rolls.
Texanna departed this life on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Fulton R. Watson, Sr.; son, Fulton R. Watson, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Le’Kira Watson and Ezekiel Holloway; two brothers, James A. Jefferson and Benjamin L. Jefferson, Jr.; and sister, Lola M. Cooper.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her daughter, Vanessa W. Holloway (Larry); son, Frank E. Watson, Sr.; three grandsons, Fulton R. Watson III (Nicole) , Larry R. Holloway, Jr., and Frank E. Watson, Jr; three great-grandchildren, Fulton Watson IV, Cameron Watson, and Tanasia Smith; one great-great-grandchild, Jasiah Walker; daughter-in-law, Patrice C. Watson; two sisters, Doris Cunningham of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Elois Morris of Lynchburg, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Jones and Bernice Watson both of Lynchburg, Virginia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Holcomb Rock Baptist Church.
Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
