Thomas Whitaker

May 24, 2023

Thomas Lee Whitaker, 55, of Madison Heights, passed away on May 24, 2023. He was born on April 3, 1968, to Norma Harris and the late James T. (J.T.) Harris. Tommy, as he was affectionately known as, loved fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. You could often catch him and his best friend Mike on the riverbank doing what they enjoyed best. He enjoyed days off with his wife, the morning breakfast she made, their shopping trips, and dinner together. They both enjoyed talking, laughing, and picking at each other. Tommy loved his daughter and his two grandkids, they enjoyed many trips together, going to events, amusement park rides, Christmas shows, camping, and all the kids sporting events through the years.

In addition to his loving wife of 30 years, Robin Goin, he is survived by a daughter; Christy Goin Unroe (Eddie), two grandchildren; Kaden and Keirstin, mother; Norma Harris, grandmother; Frances Wood, sister; Francis Perry “Sissy” (Charles Sr.), brother; William (Billy) Whitaker (Donna), his best friend for over 2 decades, Mike Snead, father and mother-in-law; George H. Goin Sr. (Emma), sister in law; Rhonda Goin, brother in law; George Goin Jr (Wanda), nephews; Charles Perry Jr., Hunter Perry (Lucia), and Sam Perry.

Tommy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Tommy and Robin shared many years together, their love was unbreakable, and it showed in their love and care for animals who needed a place to live and thrive. Dogs, cats, birds, you name it, they all found a home with the Whitaker’s. Though our hearts are hurting we take great comfort in knowing we will see him one day. We will forever love you.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Madison Heights with a funeral service to follow at 12 a.m. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
