Vanessa Angus

January 5, 1966 - August 16, 2023

Vanessa Ogle Angus, 57 of Gladstone born January 5th, 1966, in Cape May, New Jersey passed away on August 16th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

Vanessa is preceded in death by her mother Kathrine Ogle; father-in-law John Sam Angus; Brother, Ronnie Ogle; brother-in-law, Milton Ferguson, and nephew Jamie Huber.

Vanessa worked at United Way of Central Virginia for 17 years where she made many friends and thoroughly enjoyed the work that she did. She was very active in her community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Amherst County and served as director of the Amherst County Fair in 2018. What Vanessa loved most was spending time with her husband, sons, and three grandchildren. She enjoyed doing all things girly with her granddaughters and loved watching her grandson be all boy alongside her sons and husband on the farm. Vanessa loved to travel and see different parts of the world, but home was always “Angus Highlands Farm”. Vanessa loved her fur babies.

Vanessa could always light up a room with her beautiful smile and bright personality. If you were lucky enough to know her it’s fair to say she left her mark everywhere she went and every person she touched.

Vanessa is survived by her husband of 41 years Manuel Angus; sons, Jason Angus and Daniel Angus (Christen) both of Gladstone. Her grandchildren Lauren, Libby, and Waylon. Her father L.R. Ogle of Gladstone and mother-in-law Pearl Angus of Gladstone. Her sisters Marlene Denning (Wayne) of Hurt and Janet Ferguson of Gladstone. Her sisters-in-law, Pat Campbell (Chuck) of Madison Heights and Sandy “Booboo” Campbell (Alvin) of Gladstone and brothers-in-law, Samuel “Sambo” Angus (Michelle) of Gladstone and Stevie Angus (Sandy) of Monroe and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 19th, 2023, at 1 P.M. at Manuel and Vanessa’s home.

Vanessa is a person who set the high standard for all to live and work towards. She was a pleasure to work with as the first Amherst County Fair Director. Well organized and a true leader are words that describe Vanessa. Her love for family, and community was evident. She taught me much during that time and, I am a better person having had the chance to work with her.

My heart is broken. I haven't seen Vanessa for a couple years and had no idea she must have been sick. One of the sweetest and thoughtful girls I ever got the pleasure to work with. I know she's among angels and God holds her in His hands. Love and prayers to you all.
