Wayne Wood

Wayne Wood, 69, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on June 19, 2023. He was the son of the late Robert Wood and Joyce Ann Adams.

Wayne was born on August 3^rd, 1953, in Lynchburg, VA. He attended school at George C. Marshall High School in Fairfax County and EC Glass High School in Lynchburg, VA. He then pursued his ongoing education and career in the U.S. NAVY, stationed in Charleston, SC. After relocating home to Lynchburg, Wayne established his career as a Mechanical Specialist, as well as accomplishing many other projects and services in the Lynchburg area community.

Wayne attended church at Norwood Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, Sammy (his beloved dog), and traveling to the beach as often as he could. He loved his country and his family with his whole heart.

Wayne is survived by his significant other, Vivian Jamerson of Lynchburg, and his daughter, Tracy Wood-Brummette; husband John Brummette III as well as his special daughters, Sherry Cox; husband Dr. David Cox, Crystal Sale; husband Gary Sale, and Tina Hopkins; husband Kevin Hopkins. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jake Lyon, the late Kaytlyn Lyon Montgomery, Jordan Lyon; girlfriend Zoey Wade, Nicholas Vitali, Anna Vitali, Landon Vitali, Peyton Cox, Cameron Cox, and Colby Cox. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Brenda Brenner of Leesburg, VA, great-grandchild, Milani Lyon, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is predeceased by his brother, Robert Nelson Wood.

Per Wayne’s wishes, a special family and friends celebration will be held on June 22^nd, 2023 at 6:30 pm at 503 Ivy Lake Drive in Forest, VA. Officiating the celebration will be Sam Stump of Norwood Baptist Church.
