William Robert Craig

William Robert Craig, 91, of Madison Heights, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023. He was the husband of the late Norma Dudley Craig.

William was born March 6, 1932, in Bedford County, a son of the late William Branard Craig and Pearl Cundiff Craig. William worked as a Supervisor with Appalachian Power Company and eventually owned and operated W.R. Craig Septic.

He is survived by his four children; William “Sonny” Craig of Amherst, Vickie Craig of Madison Heights, Robert “Tony” Craig of San Antonio, TX, Tammy Crouch of Atlanta, GA, and Barrington Smith of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren Robert Craig, Crissy Mitchell, Adam Robertson, Brandon Craig, Sterling Craig, Graham Crouch, Kobe Crouch and Blake Crouch; six great-grandchildren, Landon Mitchell, Alex Mitchell, Alexie Robertson, Alana Robertson, Benton Robertson, and Branton Robertson; one great-great, granddaughter; Paisley Jeanne Mitchell; six sisters, Virginia Maddox, Connie England, Anna Craig, Jean Brads, Liz Aaron, and Betty Peters, and one brother Ray Craig.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Rebecca Zimmerman, and one brother John Craig.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights, and all other times at the residence of his daughter at, 193 Tammy Drive, Madison Heights.

A Celebration of William’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights with Pastor Terry Wornstaff officiating. Interment will follow at Briarwood Memorial Gardens in Amherst.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Madison Heights, is assisting the family.
