Garland Joseph Kidd, Sr.

Garland Joseph Kidd, Sr., born Bedford County 1916, formerly of Madison, VA, recently of Friendship Assisted Living in Roanoke, VA, passed away June 10 at the age of 97.  He was preceded in death by his wife Sally Rusher Kidd, his parents Oscar and Estelle Kidd, and his sisters Thelma K. Olson, and Stella K. Mallard, and his brothers Willie, Mahlon, Lawrence, Ruben, and Raymond Kidd.  Garland was an active member of Beth Car Baptist Church in Madison, VA for 72 years.  He led the Soil Conservation Service District office in Madison for 39 years.

 

He is survived by daughter Sue Carr and husband Charlie of Murfreesboro, TN; son Joe Kidd and wife Gail of Roanoke, VA; and son Glenn Kidd and wife Betsy of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters Debbie Hargrove, Allison Kidd-Miller, and Katherine HK Walsh; grandsons Andy Carr, Michael Kidd, and David Kidd; and 14 great grandchildren: Austin, Adam, Journey, Veronica, Joey, Aubrey, Caroline, Sadie, Alex, Vivienne, Caleb, Benjamin, Luca and Isaac.

 

Garland requested, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beth Car Baptist Church, 411 Mud Road, Madison, VA  22727.
