Gary Michael Chilton

Gary Michael “Mike” Chilton, 68, of Vinton, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Danville, VA on September 24, 1955. A son of the late Charlie Allen Chilton and Florence Odom Chilton. In addition to his parents Mike was preceded in death by his step-mother, Blanche Chilton; two brothers, Jerry Wayne Chilton and Charles Leon Chilton; his wife’s mother, Carol Collins and his father-in-law, Gary Collins.

Mike is a member of Mountain View Union Church in Thaxton. He worked as a District Manger for Midwest Transport Inc. for many years. Earlier in life Mike was a former Stock Car Driver and he loved racing of any kind, especially NASCAR. His love for his family and their quality time was so evident. Mike also loved his special four-legged friend Oliver. Mike was a very simple and humble man who was loved by so many.  

Mike is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tina L. Chilton; three daughters, Kristen Chilton Grabowski, Kayli Brooke Chilton, and Jessica Rae Gaviorno (Michael); one granddaughter, Makenzie Ann Grabowski; mother-in-law, Patti Collins. Also surviving are many friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Mike’s life will be conducted at 2:30 pm at Mountain View Union Church on Saturday, June 8, 2024, with Pastor Bob Sowder officiating.
