Gary F. Parker

d. September 11, 2015

With a heavy heart, the family of Gary Parker informs every one of his passing on Friday, September 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on August 16, 1949, the son of the late Francis & Elaine (Raleigh) Parker. He married the love of his life, Deborah (Clogston) Parker on July 19, 1969, enjoying 47 years of marriage.

Mr. Parker is survived by his wife; a son, Michael R. Parker of Rutland; sisters, Judy (Lynn) Edmunds of Wallingford, Deborah (Todd) Morse of E. Wallingford, Sandra (Jerry) Brown of West Cliffe, CO; Aunt & Uncle Henry (Nan) Booth of Middlebury, Aunt Edyth Raleigh of Durham, NH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins; and dear friend, Ellen Dupaw of Rutland, VT.

Gary graduated from Wallingford High School and Castleton University with a business management degree, he worked for A.C.F. Surveying, John Russell Corp., VT State Buildings, Florida Memorial University, and Palm Beach Atlantic University. Upon retirement, he designed and built their home on Smith Mountain Lake, VA to enjoy the lake.

Our world has lost one of the kindest, most loving men on this earth. After his courageous battle with cancer, Gary left us at 5 pm Friday as not to be late for his appointment in heaven and to start his new adventure.

Honoring Gary’s wish, following his cremation, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local Hospice would be appreciated.

As Gary would say: “It is what it is; but it will be what you make it.”

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, SML, is assisting the family.
