Gary S. Walker, of Lynchburg, Va., passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, October 26, 2018. He was the loving Husband of Wendy L. Walker for 42 years.
Gary was born on March 3, 1953 in Savannah, Ga., a son of Everett and Elizabeth Walker. He served four years in the United States Air Force (USAF). He and his wife were able to travel during that time. Gary retired from International Paper Company after 20 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his two daughters, Carrie Castle (Tommy) and Amy Newcomb (Kenny); and five precious grandchildren: Blake, Abby, and Clay Newcomb; and Grady and Maxx Castle; his sister, Susan Brown (Reed) of Jesup, Ga.; his brother, Jeff Walker (Linda) of Savannah, Ga.; his sisters-in-law, Connie Jones (Bob) and Judy Berryman (T.C.); and many special nieces, nephews, aunts, and his mother-in-law, Beckie Shy.
Gary enjoyed listening to music, spending time with his family and friends, and visiting Savannah. The family wishes to thank Centra Hospice for all of their care.
A celebration of life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Family and friends are welcome at the home of Kenny and Amy Newcomb in Spout Spring, Va. following the service.
