Gary Thomas Wright

Gary Thomas Wright, 43, of Roanoke, VA, went to join his family with Jesus on Friday, December 24, 2010. He was the husband of Vickie Harrison May for 15 years.

Born Tuesday, September 12, 1967 in Lynchburg, VA, Gary was a son of the late Alfred Lukin Wright, Sr. and Wilma Jean Gregory Wright.   He was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Wilma Jean Gregory Wright, a brother, Alfred Lukin Wright, Jr., a brother-in-law, Clay Harrison, all of Lynchburg, an Aunt, Donna Neighbors and her husband Jimmy, of Severn, MD, an Aunt, Gloria Mann and her husband Robert, of Fredericksburg, VA an Uncle, Alton Gregory and his wife, Dianne, an Aunt, Charlotte Smallwood, all of Lynchburg, VA, and his faithful friend, Travis.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Wright.

Gary was a loving husband, son, brother, and nephew. He loved the outdoors, fishing, riding his motorcycle or going to the ocean. He was a perfectionist in his work and had a heart of gold. He loved to help others; having gone to Louisiana to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina devastated the area. Gary was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church and attended Journey Church. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg.   A celebration of Gary's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy J. Bower, and the Rev. Michael Duval officiating.
