Gayle K. Turner, 84, of Lynchburg, VA, died Friday, April 13, 2012. He was the husband of Annie Belle Turner.
Gayle was born Wednesday, August 31, 1927 in Bedford, VA, a son of the late Charles Edward Turner, Sr. and Helen Abbott Turner. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from N. B. Handy where he was Salesman for 37 years. He was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter: Lisa G. McCune and Kenny W. of Lynchburg, VA, three sons: Adam D. Turner and Lisa D. of Lynchburg, Michael W. Turner of Winston-Salem, NC, and Brian K. Turner and Nanette D. of Appomattox; two grandchildren: Christopher M. Turner and Jason T. Turner both of Lynchburg; a Great Grandchild, MacKenzie Turner of Lynchburg and a brother-in-law: Bobby Bobbitt and Betty of Concord, Va. and his lifelong friend, Scott F. Templeton and Margaret of Lynchburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: J. R. Turner and Charles E. Turner, Jr. and a sister: Sonya D. Lohrman.
A celebration of Gayle's life will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Monday, April 16 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA. with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16. The family will receive friends following the service.
