Gene "Cricket" Stevens

Gene Stevens (Cricket), 59, of Thaxton, passed away on April 9, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clettie and Jessie Stevens, and a brother, Junior Stevens. Surviving are his children, Jessica Nute (Jacob) of Vinton, Amy Stevens (Brian) of Roanoke, Devin Stevens (Katie) of Roanoke; sister, Debbie Layne (Tommy) of Bedford, Kenneth Stevens (Theresa) of Troutville, Jackie Stevens (Lisa) of Bedford, Mark Stevens (Glenda) of Bedford, Michael Stevens of Vinton, Danny Stevens of Bedford; sister-in-law, Lynn Stevens of Goodview.

Cricket was everybody’s buddy, small in size, but big in heart. He loved cheating at a game of cards and we will forever hear his laughter in our hearts. Rest in peace now Cricket, your troubles are over. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
