It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Geneva Fuller of Lynchburg on April 21st, 2025, at the age of 78. She was the daughter of the late Olin Manson Staton and Mildred Adele Burks Staton and the beloved wife of Bobby Lee Fuller for 39 years. She was born on April 23, 1946, in Virginia.
Geneva’s love knew no bounds. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional kindness, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her entire family and countless others. Geneva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a beautiful soul who had never met a stranger. She and her husband Bobby created a safe, warm home together that shone like a beacon of love in an at-times dark world. She never hesitated to open her doors and her heart to anyone who came knocking, sending them on their way at the end of the night with a hug and a take home plate. Her strong faith in God carried her through life’s ups and downs, and all who knew her saw the Lord’s love in everything she did.
Geneva retired from a lengthy and successful career at C.R. Hudgins as a graphic art screen printer. She enjoyed spending her time with her family, watching her grandkids climb trees in her yard, passing on her cooking and sewing knowledge to her daughters, and handedly beating everyone who would play her in rummy. Geneva was a skilled painter, and her artwork often reflected her love for the natural world. To merely say that Geneva cared deeply for the earth and the creatures that inhabit it would be an understatement. She proved this daily through countless hours tending to her gardens and flowers, enjoying the beautiful birds in her yard and their songs, and quietly waiting on the porch with her husband to see what other wildlife might wander their way. When not out in nature, Geneva could be found cooking her family’s favorite meals, watching nature or baking shows, or sharing her passions and adventures with her beloved husband and family. In addition to these passions, Geneva held fond memories of family trips to Atlantic City, NJ.
Geneva’s artistic eye found beauty in everything around her, and she created beauty in her daughters, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. She was unceasingly proud of her family, and those blessed enough to know her love will hold dear the special memories we are privileged to have shared with our precious, affectionate Geneva.
Although Geneva has reunited with the Lord, she will live in our hearts forever.
In addition to her husband Bobby, she is survived by her daughters, Lisa Wood, and Tammy Guthrie and husband Barry; grandchildren, Chris Tanner, Chad Melton, Amber Fuller, and Mary Katherine Guthrie; great-granddaughters, Grace Melton and Emma Melton; and many other beloved family members and close friends, including Judy Warren, Kristie Bushman, Barry West, Susie Smith, Dodie Fuller, Troy Fuller, James Dickerson, Virginia Powell, Helen Hamilton, Andre Tanner, Brett Fromm, Alex Saenz, and Jarrett and Tiffany Parker.
In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her first husband, John Wood; sisters, Frances West and Juanita Doss; and brothers, Howard Staton, Johnny Staton, Larry Staton, and Bobby Staton. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2-3pm at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, with a Celebration of Life immediately to follow at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lynchburg Humane Society in Geneva’s name.
