George Bradley Taylor, Jr.

August 27, 1963 — April 25, 2016

George Bradley “Brad” Taylor Jr., 52, of Rustburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday. April 25, 2016.

Brad was born in Lynchburg on August 27, 1963 a son of the late George Bradley Taylor Sr. and Joyce Lafurne Phelps. He graduated from Rustburg High School class of 1981. Shortly after graduation Brad married Mitzi Childress whom he was married to for 31 years.

He was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, a member of the NRA, an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast whose collection included his prized mustangs and his Harley. Brad was the Vice-President of Taylor Insurance Agencies and also the Co-Owner and Proprietor of Taylor Family Farms.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter Brande M. Taylor, his granddaughter Britney M. Thacker, and two sisters: Melisa Taylor Dawson (Dennis) and Sharon Taylor Simmons (Buster), his brother John Paul Taylor (Kathy), his Fiancée Heather Wilmer, 15 nieces and nephews and his beloved Australian Shepherd companion, Chester.

Along with his father Brad was also preceded in death by his admired grandparents; John Alexander Taylor and Margaret Louise Taylor, and Carlyle T. Phelps and Della Robertson Phelps.

The family will receive friends Friday April 29, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

A celebration of Brad’s life will be held Saturday April 30, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 9388 Village Hwy, Concord, with the Reverend Frank W. Casper officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
