George Edward Pick, 91, of Madison Heights died Thursday, December 11, 2014. He was the devoted husband of Ethel Lea Dawson Pick for 67 years.
George was born in Washington D.C. on July 7, 1923, a son of the late Artie Terrell Pick and the late Mary Proffitt Pick.
George was a sports dictionary. Growing up in the Washington D.C. area, he worked in the locker rooms of the Old Washington Senators and Washington Redskins. He was the best dad and gave his family everything they needed, and especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons: Walter Pick (Alva), Gary Pick (Vicki), and Brian Pick (Vivian); his grandchildren: Aaron Pick (Dominique), Alexandra Miller (Josh), Claudia Pick, Aidan Pick, and Cooper Pick; and his great-grandchildren: Joshua Pick, Kaitlyn Pick, and Rylen Miller.
A funeral service for George will be held at 12:00 Noon tomorrow, Monday, December 15, 2014, at Elon Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Tyree officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
