George Edward Witt

George Edward “Ed” Witt, 73, of Montvale went to be with God on August 3, 2014 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Bedford County on September 12, 1940, a son of the late Hubert Broaddus Witt and Elsie Christine Roop Witt.

Ed was a member of Walnut Grove Union church. He was retired with 30 years of service from Yokahoma Tire Corporation as a Calendar Operator.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Gail Wallace Witt, one brother, Samuel Lawrence Witt and his wife, Kim; two sisters, Normie Eloise Looney and Betty Lee Wallentine; 3 brother-in-laws, Curtis W. Wallace and his wife, Shirley, Reginald “Reggie” Wallace and his wife, Joyce and James Baker; two sister-in-laws, Pat W. Hill and her husband, James and Jean Wallace; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

The Family would like to say a huge Thank You to the 6th floor ICU and 10th floor Palliative care at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital along with all the Doctors and Nurses for their compassion, love and best of care during this most difficult time. You all are greatly appreciated.

A Graveside service and celebration of Ed’s life will be conducted at 11 am on, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Walnut Grove Union Church cemetery with Pastor Bob Auxier officiating.
