George Everett Adams

July 20, 1931 — May 22, 2022

George Everett Adams, 90, of Lynchburg, Virginia went to be with his Lord on May 22, 2022.  He was the son of the late Alton and Evelynn Adams, and the husband of  Grace V. Adams for 20 years.

George was born on July 20, 1931, in Presque Isle, Maine.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he moved to the Tidewater area with his late wife Shirley Adams where they raised their three children.  While in Norfolk, George owned and operated a truck repair shop.  He later moved his family to Lynchburg where he worked for Westover Dairy as a maintenance technician.

He was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed working on trucks and cars, restoring things, and working with wood.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children, George Lee Adams (Roseanne), Richard Lee Adams (Mary), Terri Rouse (Jerry) and his grandchildren, Melissa Adams Yacher, Simone Yacher, Sebastian Yacher,  Vivian Adams Morris, Tyler, Matt, Harrison Adams, Wayne, Austin, Aaron Rouse; great-grandchildren, Landon, Kailey Morris and Justin Morris Jr., Myles, Eva Lyn Rouse and Noah Rouse and Lincoln Adams; his siblings, Ray Adams and Janet Adams Barbitta; and many loving friends in the community.

In addition to his parents, Alton and Evelynn Adams is predeceased by his late wife Shirley Lee Adams and his brother-in-law Richard Lee White.

A grave side service will be held on June 7, 2022, at 11:00 am at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Dr. Maurice McCarthy officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Legion Post 16 Lynchburg, VA (https://americanlegionpost16.us/).
