George “Gerhard” Maxwell
George "Gerhard" Maxwell, 93, of Lynchburg died Thursday, March 4, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
George was born November 3, 1916 in Charlottenburg, Germany, the son of the late Max Heinemann and Hedi Kutscher Heinemann. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran church and a past member of the Poetry Society of VA, and the Piedmont Literary Society. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Edith Slabig Maxwell.
He is survived by a son, Jack Maxwell of Lynchburg, a daughter, Margot Biesterfeld of Cleveland, Georgia, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two sisters, Gerda Nicholson of Surrey, England, and Irmgard Hampton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and a dear friend and caregiver, Pat Davis.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dennis Roberts officiating.
