George John Schoepf

George John Schoepf, 91, of Moneta, died Friday, June 29, 2012. Born March 28, 1921, in Brooklyn, NY; he was a son of the late George Fred Schoepf and Gertrude Nauman Schoepf.

George was an active member of the Moneta Ruritans for 23 years and he held various positions with Hickory Cove Property Owners Association for over 25 years. He loved studying the financial aspects of businesses and enjoyed following the stock exchange. He also loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids. George served his country during WWII in the US Army, Co. A 329 Combat Engineers (Timberwolves), attached to the 104th Infantry Division.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta Muller Schoepf; also a brother Truman Schoepf. He is survived by his three children; John Schoepf and wife, Rhoda of Moneta; Ellen Kuder and husband, Reid of Flemington, NJ; Paul Schoepf and wife, Denise of Stevensville, MI; three grandchildren; Jennifer Kuder and Michael Kuder, both of Flemington, NJ; and Alex Schoepf of Stevensville, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Moneta Ruritan Club, c/o Hugh Key, 1114 Cranberry Court, Moneta, VA 24121, or to Lake Christian Ministries, PO Box 695, Moneta, VA 24121.

A visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 2, 2012, at Tharp Funeral Home from 2:00 until 4:00 and also 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
