George Larry Ivey, 73, of Forest, VA and Orrum, NC, went to be with Jesus on February 13, 2017, at his home. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary Beth Ivey and his three children: Tonya Ivey Miller and husband Bill of Winfield, WV, Dayna Ivey Thompson and husband Noel of Midlothian, VA, and George Nathan Ivey and wife Erica of Lynchburg, five grandchildren: Jordan and Jacob Miller of Winfield, WV, Kayden Thompson of Midlothian, VA and Sienna and Memphis Ivey of Lynchburg, sister Jan McCormick and husband Drew of Lumberton, NC, brother Dixon Ivey and wife Linda of Proctorville, NC, sister Penny Sutton and husband Danny of Fairmont, NC, brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Ann Fowler of Whiteville, NC, sister-in-law Jo Ann Ivey of West End, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother James Henry and Revah Floyd Ivey and his brother James Carlton Ivey.
Larry was born October 14, 1943 in Lumberton, NC. He is a graduate of Orrum High School and Pembroke College, served as a Staff Sergeant in the USAF and retired as a project manager from Framatome Technologies. Larry was a beloved member of Forest Community Church.
The family will receive friends at Forest Community Church, 1517 Thomas Jefferson Rd., Forest on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
