George Lester Jenkins, 68, of Moneta, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 13, 1948 in Roanoke Virginia. A son of the late Charles “Charlie” Jenkins and Hazel Duff Stelle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
George loved spending time with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed entertainment, music, traveling, the ocean, video games, electronics especially T.V’s. He enjoyed watching classic movies and T.V. shows. George served his country in the United States Navy for 30 plus years before retiring.
George is survived by his loving wife and companion of 45 years, Lindsay McNaughton Jenkins; 8 children, Georgette Jenkins, David James “D.J” Jenkins, Shannon Jenkins, Serena Jenkins, George Jenkins, Jr., Jean Jenkins, David Jenkins and Robert Jenkins; 16 grandchildren and a sister Charlotte Kelly.
