George Stephen McGann 75,  of Lynchburg went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 25th, 2016 at his residence.

George was born January 11th, 1941 in Lynchburg. He was proceeded in death by his father George Tinsley McGann and his mother Hilda Coffey McGann.

George, also known as “Peachy”, was the owner of Ideal Market in Lynchburg for 37 years. He was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church for 40 years where he served on the Board of Deacons, Head Usher and visitation Pastor.

He is survived by Nancy Hamilton McGann that was his caregiver until he passed. He is survived by two daughters, Carlos McGann Bagby and husband, Mark, (that he thought of as his own son) of Madison Heights, Va. and Jane Ellen Rising of Lynchburg Va. ; a very special grandson, Scott A. Rising of Lynchburg; Grandchildren, Kyler Stanley and Bayla Stanley of Lynchburg; one great-granddaughter, Brennyn Rising also of Lynchburg.

In addition, he is survived by a brother, Brian Tinsley McGann and his wife Katherine Lloyd McGann of Northern Virginia; a sister, Patricia M. Harmon; niece, Michon H Cale and her husband, Jeff, of Virginia; nephews, Troy D. Harmon and wife, Lisa, of Pennsylvania, Shannon H McGann, and Brendan McGann of Northern Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at Tharp Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m.
