George Andrew Wilson, Sr., 86, of Lynchburg, Va., died on Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was the husband of 68 years to Della Adkins Wilson. Born on June 3, 1931 in Big Island, George, the youngest of eleven children, was the son of the late William “Will” Wilson and Ester Goff Wilson.
George retired from Montague-Betts after 30 years, and was a member of Boonsboro United Methodist Church. George served his country in the U.S. Army. He was well known for his woodworking and gardening skills. He would share his yearly tomato harvest with friends and neighbors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Norris Wilson (Gail) of Forest and George Wilson Jr. (Pam) of Amherst; three grandchildren, Crystal, Brittany, Raul; one great-grandson, Gregory.
The family will receive friends at Boonsboro United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 and the funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at the Virginia Memorial Park where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post #16 of Lynchburg with the flag line and escort provided by the Patriot Guard Riders.
