George Washington Worley

 George Washinton Worley, 92, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on January 30, 2025. George was the son of the late Samuel Worley and Ruby Worley. He was the husband of Ann Williamson Worley for over 60 years.

George was born on February 22, 1932, in Lynchburg, VA. He attended school at E.C. Glass and pursued employment in the printing industry, first working at J.P. Bell, then Eubanks, Progress Printing, and retiring from Central Lithograph Corporation.

He was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed building furniture, traveling, and gardening. His life of service extended to joining a team that builds ramps for the elderly and handicap. George loved to sing, and, naturally, was in the church choir and sang in a group called “The Calvarymen”.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by three children, George Michael Worley (Kathryn), Mark Steven Worley, and Kathy Worley Potts (Larry); five grandchildren, Dylan Barber (Anne), Noah Potts (Katelyn), Chris Potts, Jeremy Potts, Ryan Potts; one great grandchild, Luna Anne Barber; six nieces and nephews, Carole Catlett, Irving Poe, Jr., Judy Jamerson, Patricia Thomas, Robert Snead, and Billy Worley.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg from 6 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church starting at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service, followed by interment at Virginia Memorial Park.
